We would love to introduce you to your future French bulldog puppy. Here are frequently asked questions about getting a French bulldog puppy from Fog City Bulldogs.
Do you have any French bulldog puppies for sale?
We *hope* to have puppies ready to go home in fall 2020 and again later in the year. If you are interested in getting a French bulldog puppy in the coming months, we strongly recommend getting on our waiting list. Typically, 80%+ of our available French bulldog puppies go to families on the waiting list, with the remaining offered publicly after those families have had right of first refusal. Our French bulldog puppies are available in Los Angeles for in-person meet and greets, selection, and pick-up. We also regularly deliver bulldog puppies to Central and Northern California and will hand-deliver out-of-state at an additional cost.
When will you know if the upcoming litters are spoken for?
As outlined in our deposit / waiting list process, prospective families usually begin meeting and reserving their puppy after the puppies are seven weeks old and have passed important vet checks and growth hurdles. Only after everyone on the waiting list has been contacted will I know if I have puppies available. That may be after the puppies are 8 weeks old.
What is the probability that I can get a puppy from your next litter?
I do not have a satisfying answer to this question, because I don’t know how many puppies will be in my next litter – it could be two or ten – or how many of the people on my waiting list will take a puppy home at the first available opportunity. However, it’s very common for families on my waiting list to pass on available puppies due to personal preferences regarding the color or gender of their new puppy, or due to conflicts in their schedules. Getting on the French bulldog puppy waiting list gives you the best chance at getting one of my puppies, and since the deposit is refundable, you have nothing to lose.
How many people are on your French bulldog waiting list?
It doesn’t really matter. If there are 10 people on the waiting list, that doesn’t mean that my next 10 puppies are already reserved. Some people have very specific preferences in terms of gender or color and are willing to wait until exactly the right puppy comes along. Other families have plans and a specific date after which they will bring their puppy home. Getting on the list gives you the best chance at getting your ideal French bulldog puppy at the time that suits you.
How much do French bulldog puppies cost?
Our French bulldog puppies typically range from $3500 – $4500, with limited AKC papers. Price is based primarily on color and physique. Rare-colored French bulldogs – blue, blue-eyed, chocolate – are priced even higher.
Will you have French bulldog puppies ready for Christmas or Valentine’s Day or next summer?
We can’t necessarily predict or plan if we will have a litter of French bulldog puppies for sale at a specific time. Dogs are fertile only twice a year, and the pregnancy is only 60 days long. This means that we only know four months in advance if there might be puppies. Two months in advance we know that puppies exist, but even then we wait for them to pass important growth hurdles and vet checks before encouraging prospective families to start prepping for their new Frenchie puppy. If you really, really, really want a puppy at a specific time, you maximize your chances by being on our bulldog puppy waiting list. I recommend getting on the waiting list for a French bulldog puppy at least four months in advance, though of course it’s possible it won’t take that long.
What color will your next litter of puppies be?
This is a really hard question to answer about French bulldog puppies before they are born. It’s possible to have a litter with 3 or 4 completely different looking puppies. Common colors amongst our Frenchies include fawn with a black mask, red with a black mask, brindle, blue, blue fawn, blue sable, red sable, and fawn sable. White with patches (piebald) are less common in our litters. We rarely have cream and we do not breed for all white dogs, as they tend to have more skin and hearing issues.
I really want one with a patch around its left eye and two white socks. When will you have that?
If it were as simple as decorating cupcakes, your wish would be granted. Alas, that’s like asking your doctor or spouse for a child with a heart-shaped birthmark and a MENSA-level IQ. No breeder can control these things. But, if you’re on the waiting list when your perfect puppy comes along, you might have a chance at him or her. If you’re not on the waiting list, there’s really no chance at all, since the puppy you’re describing sounds really cute and is sure to be scooped up!
I have a lot of questions about French bulldogs that I would like to ask before committing.
I applaud your desire to research the breed and encourage you to attend a local French Bulldog Meetup. There you will be able to see the range of colors and sizes French bulldogs come in, as well as speak with their owners, who are happy to gush about how great their dogs are and of the realities of caring for a bulldog.
I would like to come see your home and visit any puppies you have before committing to getting a French bulldog puppy from you.
Due to other professional obligations and the number of people who ask, we cannot accommodate this request. Keep in mind that by placing a refundable deposit, you are not committing to getting a French bulldog puppy from Fog City Bulldogs; you are only maximizing the chances of getting the French bulldog puppy you want when you want it. May I come by and meet your dogs to see if I am allergic to French bulldogs?
Please determine if you or anyone in your family is allergic to dogs before bringing one home. That sounds like the perfect thing to do at a French Bulldog Meetup, or any dog park. There is nothing particularly hypoallergenic about French bulldogs. If you are allergic to other dogs, you are probably allergic to French bulldogs as well.
I’m interested in getting a French bulldog puppy from you. What are the next steps?
Yay! We would love to introduce you to your French bulldog puppy. The next step is to place a refundable $300 deposit via PayPal, Venmo, or check to secure your place on the waiting list. If you have specific preferences in terms of gender, color, or when you want to bring your puppy home, please let us know via email or in the PayPal notes. If we don’t believe we’ll have a French bulldog puppy meeting your specifications, we’ll let you know.
